THE ART OF TEACHING

Teaching dance/gymnastics requires accomplishment in two major areas. The teachers must have a thorough cognitive understanding of proper placement and correct execution to verbally relate her or his knowledge to the student. Because of the physical nature of dance, students learn mostly by observation and imitation. For this reason the dance teacher must also have excellent technique and outstanding style (individual interpretation and flare). All of our teachers are excellent dancers in their own right. They have trained extensively in ballet, tap, jazz and/or gymnastics to offer will-rounded instruction to their students. All teachers continue to study extensively. Due to the mechanics of Dance and Gymnastics the occasion may arise that a Teacher/Instructor or Assistant must have physical contact with your child to reposition arms, legs, feet, head, etc to make proper correction to avoid injury.
